Election

Very rarely am I ok with someone calling my house or coming to my door to try and sell something or promote something.  However, if the sales people were as respectable as the girl who just came to my door, I wouldn't have much of a problem with it.

I was sitting here in my living room watching the Olympics when a knock came at the door.  Outside, I could see the face of a girl I didn't recognize.  I had been playing guitar loudly only a few minutes before and was actually afraid that somehow it was a neighbor come to complain.  As I unlocked the door I could see the name Obama plastered all over her.

I opened the door and she gave her spiel, followed by a plea for me to donate $100 to Obama's campaign ($2 for every state in the Union).  I respectfully said no thank you.  She then asked me if I had decided who I would be voting for in November.  I truthfully told her that I was leaning toward McCain, but had not made a complete decision and certainly not enough to support anyone monetarily.  She said she understood and hoped that I would at least continue considering Obama and thanked me for my time.

Never once did I feel pressured and my differing opinion was no issue for her.  She understood that I at least cared about the election and respected my stance.  I may not end up voting for Obama, but his campaign people aren't that bad.
